GUIDELINES FOR CERTIFICATION OF PRIMARY, ELEMENTARY & HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL YOGA TEACHER UNDER YOGA EDUCATION AND TRAINING.

The YCB Technical Committee approved the syllabus and guidelines for certification of Higher Secondary School Yoga Teachers under Yoga Education and Training.

The certification of Higher Secondary School Yoga Teachers will be done by YCB approved PrCBs, Leading Yoga Institutions, Yoga Institutions, Yoga Training & Therapy Centres and Yoga Training Centres.

Eligibility criteria, marks distribution and syllabus for Higher Secondary School Yoga Teacher is as follows:

Primary School Yoga Teacher Training Course Syllabus

This course focuses on introducing yoga to young children in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate manner. The emphasis is on imaginative play, creative movement, and basic mindfulness.

 

Course Objectives:

  • Understand child development stages for primary school children (ages 5-11).
  • Learn safe and effective yoga postures adapted for young bodies.
  • Develop engaging teaching techniques using stories, songs, and games.
  • Introduce basic breathing exercises and mindfulness in a playful context.
  • Understand classroom management strategies for young children.

Elementary School Yoga Teacher Training Syllabus

This course targets children in elementary school (ages 9-12), offering a more structured approach to yoga while still maintaining elements of creativity and exploration. Focus shifts towards building body awareness, concentration, and emotional regulation.

Course Objectives:

ü  Understand the physical, cognitive, and emotional development of elementary school children.

ü  Teach a broader range of yoga postures with proper alignment and modifications.

ü  Introduce more formal breathing techniques and deeper mindfulness practices.

ü  Develop strategies for addressing stress, anxiety, and self-esteem in this age group.

ü  Create structured and engaging lesson plans for elementary school settings.

Higher Secondary School Yoga Teacher Training Syllabus

This course is designed for teaching adolescents (ages 13-18) in higher secondary school. It delves into more advanced yoga practices, meditation, and philosophy, addressing the unique physical, emotional, and social challenges of this age group. The focus is on self-discovery, stress management, mental well-being, and preparing for adulthood.

Course Objectives:

ü  Understand the complex physical, cognitive, and emotional development of adolescents.

ü  Teach a wide range of yoga asanas with emphasis on precision, strength, and flexibility.

ü  Guide students through advanced pranayama, meditation, and self-inquiry practices.

ü  Address adolescent issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, body image, social pressure, and academic performance through yoga.

ü  Develop sophisticated lesson planning and communication skills for teenagers.
